Masonic gift guides, written from the Lodge side of the table

Three short guides on the questions that come up before a Masonic gift is bought.

The hard questions about a Masonic gift are not about the pieces. They are about the Craft: whether a wife can give a Masonic ring, whether the plaque should say Worshipful Master or Past Master, whether the Lodge can order twelve glasses with twelve different names in one go. These guides answer those questions once, in plain language, so the order itself takes five minutes.

They are written by a Mason and kept short. None of them refers to ritual, and none of them names a jurisdiction, because the answers are the same in every Lodge that meets upon the level.

Why guides on a gift site

Because the wrong Masonic gift is a small embarrassment that lasts. A Past Master hoodie on a Brother who never sat in the East, a ring that does not fit the little finger, a plaque with the Lodge number wrong: each one is avoidable with a paragraph of explanation, and the shop would rather write the paragraph than replace the piece. The guides carry no listings of their own beyond a few examples; they point to the category pages when a piece is relevant.

If a question is not answered here, message the shop on Etsy. The guides grow as new questions arrive.

Questions

Before you order

Can I ask a question that is not in a guide?

Yes. Message the shop on Etsy. Questions about layout, sizing, Lodge orders and timing are answered before you order, and new questions become new guides.

Is Meet Upon The Level connected to a Grand Lodge?

No. Meet Upon The Level is an independent shop run by a Freemason for Brethren and their families. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by any Grand Lodge, and every order is placed and paid for through Etsy.
